the Carolina Parakeet is an extinct species of a small green neotropical parrot with a barging yellow head , reddish orange face and pale beak that was native to the Eastern , Midwest and Plains states of the United States. The bird became rare by  the middle of the 19th century and was declared extinct in 1932.  These little birds were probably poisonous John Audubon noted that cats died from eating them.  Although humans contributed to their  extinction by hunting them for the adornment of ladies hats and pet trade, the decline was due mainly to their flocking behavior, deforestation and possibly an affliction of domestic poultry diseases.
